Handyman work is what not only gave me my start, it gave me my name. When I first started out, a lot of the projects that I would receive calls on would be the dreaded “Honey Do” lists. If you don’t already know, a “Honey Do” list is usually a list of projects that a homeowner would like completed around the home but just can’t seem to find the time or just does not feel comfortable with their skill level at doing the job. Changing a light fixture, installing a microwave, installing a basketball net, building a swing-set, yearly yard work, painting or just fixing a hole in a wall could be considered haunting tasks that never seem to be completed. One day, while working at a customers home, their 3 year old son came to the door when I arrived and said “Handy Manny Bob is here!” Having children of my own, I knew he was referring to the children’s show “Handy Manny” which features a cartoon character who is the neighborhood handy man. Since that day, I have been called Handyman Bob by most of my customers. Though I continue to expand my professional offerings into much larger projects, I still enjoy the smaller jobs. On a regular basis a customer will call with a project that I have not done before and I look forward to the new challenge.
Handyman work and “Honey Do” lists still make up a good portion of my business today.
